Recording an album is like a venturing forth on a weird, wonderful road trip. Your car may be gassed up, your bags packed and your intended destination typed into your GPS with nothing between you and the horizon (the album you have been working on) other than the few stops for gas that you have to make along the way...

However sometimes when you stop for gas you end up off the beaten path patronizing one of those strange and slightly disturbing truck stops that have showers that look like toilets and toilets that look like the inside of a ground beef burrito. Speaking of food this particular petrol oasis also sells counter-top pizza that looks and tastes like humid Twinkies. They also have a spinner rack filled with multiple cassette copies of Red Sovine's "Phantom 309" and Smokey & The Bandit II dvds placed precariously next to the expired condoms and bulk-stacked wiper fluid. The entire enterprise is staffed by a diamond in the diesel slightly world-weary angel of the highways and byways whose fragrance is that of Pennzoil and regret. This forsaken location might not be your intended destination (the finished album), but it's existence alone somehow makes the trip all the more worthwhile.

This EP is one of those truck stops.
